Cancellation cover
Having to stay home sick is annoying enough. So it's great that our travel insurance at least covers your cancellation costs for flights, hotels and transfers – and even for courses, seminars and concerts, too. What is more, there is no deductible.
Personal assistance
You return from your mountain biking holiday in the Rockies with some spectacular photos – and a spectacular cast on your leg. While ice fishing Norway, you pick up a nasty case of pneumonia. In the event of illness or accident abroad, our travel insurance will cover the costs of rescue and transportation to the nearest hospital and organise and pay for your journey home. If necessary, in first class and for all your travelling companions as well.

Good to know: we will also organise your return journey and reimburse your costs if you have to come back early from a year or semester abroad due to illness or accident.
Cover for flight delays
Heavy air traffic, bad weather during your stopover – and before you know it, you've missed your connecting flight. If the delay lasts more than three hours, our travel insurance will pay up to CHF 2,000 towards the costs of hotel stays, food and drink and your new ticket.
Excess on hire vehicles
A stylish cabriolet, breathtaking passes... Everything is going well – until the second-to-last bend, when your hire car grazes the crash barrier. This could well be expensive. But not for you, because our travel insurance covers any excesses for rental vehicles up to an amount of CHF 3,000. A requirement is that you have taken out fully comprehensive insurance with the hire firm.

In times of COVID-19, travel is more fraught with uncertainty than ever. Our travel insurance with pandemic cover at least gives you a bit more peace of mind. This is because we will cover costs that you incur in connection with an epidemic or pandemic – for instance if you contract COVID-19 or are unable to embark on a planned journey because you are in quarantine due to suspected COVID-19.

Luggage insurance
When the baggage carousel grinds to a halt, your suitcase is nowhere to be seen. Or it arrives, but in a damaged state. Regardless of what happens to your luggage, our luggage insurance will cover the costs you incur to buy new clothes and essential toiletries and to replace your documents.
Incidentally, this applies not just to your suitcase, but to all items that you take on holiday with you. Such as that camera you dropped. It can happen to anyone.

Our travel insurance covers costs in connection with epidemics and pandemics in the following cases, among others:
- You fall ill with COVID-19 and are unable to set off on the journey had planned.
- You have to go into quarantine because you had contact with an infected person – for instance, if you have to stay in the hotel at your holiday destination because another guest has come down with COVID-19.
- You are not permitted to enter a foreign country or continue your journey because you are suspected of having COVID-19 (refusal of carriage or entry).
Please note that our travel insurance does not cover cancellation due to a general quarantine ordered by an authority. Make sure you are well informed before travelling to a high-risk area and pay attention to travel warnings.
The cost of a travel insurance policy depends on whether it is for you only or for your whole family. The premium also depends on whether the insurance is to apply throughout Europe or worldwide.

If you have taken out fully comprehensive insurance for your rental car from the hire firm, it will cover most types of damage to the vehicle. Our travel insurance covers the excess on the comprehensive cover, up to an amount of CHF 3,000. It is essential to check what exactly the comprehensive insurance includes, however. In other countries, you often have to insure tyres, glass and damage to the underbody additionally – an extra charge that it is usually well worth paying.
Incidentally, foreign car insurance policies generally have different sums insured for third-party liability than apply in Switzerland. As a result, if you cause loss or injury to someone else with a hire car, the insurance may not cover the whole loss – for instance if you are at fault for an accident in which a third party is injured. In this case, it helps if you have taken outpersonal liability insurance with us. This will pay the difference between the third-party liability sum insured in the other European country and the statutory minimum sum insured that applies in Switzerland. A requirement for this is that you have not rented the vehicle for more than one month.
