Simply set off, explore new places and see where you end up. Don't let anything stop you – with our car insurance. We take care of everything in the event of mishaps, quickly and with a minimum of bureaucracy.
The compulsory part – third-party liability
Third-party liability insurance is required by law for cars in Switzerland and you cannot register your vehicle without it. Whether you crash into the back of somebody in a traffic jam or fail to see a car as you are turning into another road – if you inflict damage on third parties with your vehicle, your third-party liability cover will pay for repairs, personal injury and consequential costs.
Great for you:
- Flexible deductible
How much would you like to pay yourself in the event of a claim? Choose the deductible for your car insurance yourself.
- Defence against unjustified claims
Has somebody made an unjustified claim against you? We will defend you.
- Property of family members included
Our third-party liability insurance also covers the property of family members, regardless of whether they live in the same household or not – in case you graze your daughter's motorbike while reversing, for example.

Comprehensive cover – for damage to your car
Sometimes you get lucky – when you successfully manage to swerve round a deer on the road, for example. Sometimes you don't. This is where our comprehensive insurance helps you out. It covers damage to your own car.
Partially comprehensive cover
Our partially comprehensive insurance covers many types of damage to your car that neither you nor another driver caused, such as storm damage, theft or vandalism. Here is a brief list of the other types of damage that are insured:
- Marten damage: Martens and some rodents love to chew through wires and tubes. It's very annoying when their sharp teeth cause an expensive trip to the repair garage. For that reason, loss/damage and consequential losses caused by marten bites are covered by the partially comprehensive insurance – as are bites by rodents.
- Fire damage: partially comprehensive cover also includes lightning strike and fire. Damage to electronic or electrical devices or components is covered unless it is caused by an internal fault.
- Natural hazard events: heavy rainfall, high winds and hailstorms are common in stormy weather. Insured natural hazard events include damage caused by flooding, landslides and falling branches during storms (winds >75 km/h) as well as hail damage to your car.
- Vandalism: broken-off wing mirrors and slashed tyres are a real pain in the neck – not least because it is usually too late to find the culprit. Our partially comprehensive insurance is there for you in this case, too, and covers the costs.
- Glass damage: a little pop, and within seconds there's a crack stretching all the way across your windscreen. If your windscreen is destroyed by a stone, this is a case for your partially comprehensive insurance.
- Theft: this is also covered by the partially comprehensive insurance. And that includes when someone gains unauthorised access to your car by hacking into it (cyber attack).
- Damage while providing assistance: has your car been damaged while you were helping somebody else – e.g. after an accident? Our partially comprehensive insurance will help you.
- Collisions with wild animals: you're driving through the forest at night. Before you know it, an animal runs out in front of your car. It's too late to brake, and the resulting collision damages your vehicle. After a collision with a wild animal, our partially comprehensive insurance will be there for you. Damage caused by evasive manoeuvres is not insured, however. Fully comprehensive cover will help with that.
- Damaged caused by falling objects: falling parts of aircraft and satellites can damage your car. It may sound unlikely, but it is still covered by your partially comprehensive insurance.
Collision
The underground car park isn't quite as spacious as you thought. The driver in front of you brakes unexpectedly. And that's that. Collision/fully comprehensive insurance covers damage to your car for which you are responsible. If your car is leased or particularly valuable, this coverage is indispensable.

Purchase price protection
With this additional option on top of comprehensive insurance, you can extend the enhanced current value coverage of 100% from two years to five. As a result, we will cover the full purchase price in the first five years of operation in the event of a write-off.

Assistance
A person who wants to discover the world will let nothing hold them back. Not even a breakdown. Our assistance service will get you back on the road in no time. We organise the towing, repair or return of your vehicle and will even cover the costs of hire cars and taxis.
And for even more benefits, there is our supplementary Assistance Top cover. With this, we guarantee not only your home or onward journey in the event of a breakdown, but also your mobility while your car is being repaired. We will also cover any deductible you may have in the event of damage to your replacement vehicle.

First-party losses
On request, our liability insurance will also cover damage to your own property – such as might occur if you overlook your expensive e-bike while parking.
Please note: Your insurer is not liable for damage that occurs during the use of your e-bike. You should close this gap by insuring your e-bike. And if your e-bike breaks down, our bicycle assistance service will help you.

Gross negligence
Have you caused an accident while driving on a snow-covered road in summer tyres? With the "gross negligence" add-on, the insurer will waive its right to seek recourse from you in the event of gross negligence, unless the accident was caused while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Your car insurance covers the vehicle itself and not a specific driver. As a result, anyone with a valid driving licence may drive your car. Please bear in mind, however, that different deductibles may apply in the event of a claim – depending on the age of the driver, for example.
Furthermore, if you borrow vehicles on a non-regular basis, it can make a lot of sense to take out third-party driver insurance as an addition to personal liability – in case you cause a loss while driving them. Please note that personal liability cover is not taken out with car insurance; it is generally part of acombined household insurance policy.
For most countries that are not on the Green Card, you can take out what is known as frontier insurance directly at customs when you enter country. It's best to ask your advisor about the situation in the country you are going to.

- After a claim
If you are looking to change when your policy expires, it is also essential to comply with the notice period, which is usually three months.
