Freiheit geniessen. Mit unserer Motorradversicherung.

Our motorcycle insurance.
Enjoy your freedom.

Legendary hairpin bends, breathtaking passes, dusty roads in the middle of nowhere... The only thing you've taken with you is your freedom. And our promise that we'll be there for you in the event of difficulty. Around the clock and with no red tape.

THIS IS INCLUDED

You've scratched someone else's wing mirror or failed to notice a vehicle while turning off into another road. If you cause injury or damage to others with your motorbike, our motorcycle insurance will cover the costs of repairs, personal injury and in some cases consequential costs. Third-party liability insurance is required by law for motorbikes and motor scooters in Switzerland and you cannot register them without it.

Great for you:

  • Save on your premiums
If you ride your bike carefully, you won't just save yourself a lot of trouble. You will also save up to 70% on your premiums.
  • Flexible deductible
How much would you like to pay yourself? You can choose.
  • Defence against unjustified claims
Has somebody made an unjustified claim against you? We will defend you.
  • Property of family members included
Our third-party liability insurance also covers damage to the property of family members, even if they don't live in the same household. In case you graze your daughter's car while setting off, for example.
Motorradversicherung: Haftpflicht
Motorradversicherung: Kasko

Good reactions are essential when you're on two wheels. But sometimes, even they aren't enough. If something happens, we will cover the costs. For instance, if someone damages your parked motorbike or scooter.

Hailstorms, heavy winds and flooding will show no respect for your Harley. And thieves certainly won't. Our partially comprehensive insurance covers almost all forms of loss and damage to your motorbike or scooter that were caused neither by you nor another driver/rider.

As you are coming to a stop, your heavy motorbike falls over. At a bend in the road, you misjudge both the line you need to take and the proximity of the crash barrier. Fully comprehensive insurance covers all loss and damage to your motorbike for which you are responsible – and all the partially comprehensive risks too, of course.

Great for you:

  • Modular cover
Extend your comprehensive insurance with our additional cover products.
  • Flexible deductible
You decide how high you want your deductible to be for your comprehensive insurance.
  • Full indemnity
In the event of a total loss in the first two years, 100% of the purchase price is insured.
For even more protection, you can add the following extras to your motorcycle insurance:
Assistance

If you are often out on your bike discovering the world, there may come a time when you get into difficulties. Our assistance service will help you to get back into the saddle quickly. We assist you quickly and without any red tape – in the event of a breakdown, an accident or theft. Around the clock. In Switzerland and its neighbouring countries or, on request, throughout Europe. Our assistance service will help you in the following ways, for example:

  • We will recover your motorbike and tow it away.
  • If the repair work takes longer than expected, we will cover the costs of the overnight stay and the onward or return journey, up to the relevant amount.
  • We will deliver replacement parts that you require.
Bonusschutz

The motorbike in front of you brakes suddenly. You do not. As long as you do not make more than one claim per year, your bonus level will remain the same.

Auslandschadenschutz

Midway through your European road trip, you are involved in a collision. The person who caused it is upset, and quite apart from that, you cannot understand him. Your bent suspension fork is even more of a mystery. After all, your traffic light was on green. If another road user is at fault for an accident abroad but does not have sufficient insurance, we will step in – straight away. So that, on top of all the other stress, at least you don't have to wait for your money.

Ganzjahresversicherung

Feel like going out for a spin in the winter, too? If you keep your licence plates on your motorbike the whole year round, you only pay for nine months, but are allowed to ride your bike for 12 months. That way, you remain flexible throughout the year.

Unfallversicherung

If you and your passenger are injured in an accident, that's already bad enough. We will take the financial burden off your shoulders. Your medical expenses are covered for five years, even on a private ward. In addition to other personal insurance policies. And we pay immediately, even if the question of culpability has not yet been clarified.

Schutzkleidung

You emerge from a crash unscathed thanks to your protective clothing. Unfortunately, your expensive leather suit does not. We will replace your motorbike clothing up to a value of CHF 4,000.

Miet- und Ersatzwagen

Is your motorbike currently at the garage? With this supplementary option, you can get a replacement vehicle for the duration of the repair work.

Eigenschäden

On request, you can also insure damage that you cause with your motorbike to your own property under our motorcycle third-party liability cover. For instance, if you scratch your car with your motorbike.

Q&A

No, generally you don't have to take out motorcycle insurance for test rides. If the motorbike is registered, it will have third-party liability cover that is valid for all riders – including test rides. At professional garages, this normally isn't something you need to worry about. With private sales and purchases, you should make sure that the motorbike is registered with the traffic licensing authority – i.e. that it has valid vehicle registration papers and is fitted with a licence plate.

If you damage the bike itself during the test ride, however, you will have to pay the costs. Find out beforehand whether your personal liability insurance covers any damage that you cause during test rides. The relevant component is generally called "Driving third-party motor vehicles" or "Third-party driver coverage".

Before you are allowed to ride your motorbike on the roads, you need motorcycle insurance. You can then register your bike with the traffic licensing authority using the certificate of insurance. Your insurer will generally send the certificate of insurance to the traffic licensing authority electronically after you have taken out the policy. Once this has happened, you need to have the vehicle registration papers altered by the authority and may also have to get new licence plates. At professional garages, the seller will often take care of the registration process for you. If you have taken out motorcycle insurance with us and need a certificate of insurance, please consult our insurance experts.

Yes. If you deposit your licence plates with the traffic licensing authority, your motorcycle insurance will be suspended until you register them again. If you have taken out comprehensive insurance for your motorbike, certain elements of the insurance policy will remain in place during this period. You will continue to be insured against risks that still apply when the motorbike is not being used, such as marten bites or hail damage. However, since you don't need third-party liability insurance when you aren't riding your bike, part of the premium will be refunded.

Feel like going out for a spin in the winter, too? Then you can take out a whole-year policy. With this, you will save the administrative effort of registering and deregistering your motorbike, and will also receive a 25% discount on your motorcycle insurance.

Yes. If you cause an accident with your motorbike, damage and personal injury affecting third parties are insured via the third-party liability component of your motorcycle insurance. This includes injuries to passengers. For children and other people who do not have accident insurance via a Swiss employer, however, it is definitely worth taking out what is known as passengers' accident insurance. This addition to your motorcycle insurance enables you to insure further benefits in the event of accidents, for example for medical expenses or disability. What is more, our passengers' accident insurance includes an upgrade – if your insurance only covers stays on general hospital wards, we will pay the costs of a private ward in the event of an accident.

Not automatically. With most insurers, however, you can include your protective clothing via an additional component in the partially or fully comprehensive part of your motorcycle insurance. In our motorcycle insurance, the relevant component is called "Protective clothing". Depending on the policy, the protective clothing may also be insured under "items conveyed". In this case, you should check whether the sum insured is sufficient to replace your protective clothing after an accident. And if your protective clothing is stolen from a locked top case, our comprehensive insurance will reimburse your costs at replacement value up to the agreed sum.

If you have taken out partially or fully comprehensive cover, your motorbike is insured against theft and damage that occurs as a result of an attempted theft. If your vehicle is stolen and is not recovered within 30 days, this counts as a total loss and the current value will generally be paid out. Incidentally, our comprehensive insurance always includes enhanced current value cover. This means that we will reimburse the full purchase price of your motorbike in the first two years of operation. After the first two years, you will receive 20% more than your motorbike was worth at the time of the accident.

Do you own a collector's motorbike with an annual mileage of fewer than 5,000 km? Then we recommend modern-era classic motorcycle insurance for bikes that are more than 15 years old and classic motorcycle insurance for those that are over 30 years old. That way, the maximum indemnity is also insured for five years. The best thing to do is to contact  your advisor about this.
