You see them everywhere and they go everywhere. In fact, it’s become hard to imagine a city without them: e-scooters. And rightly so, because electric scooters are an excellent way to move around cities quickly. They are also emission-free and environmentally friendly.

Not only are we fans of eco-friendly vehicles; we also know a thing or two about mobility. That is why we support the fun and variety offered by these new vehicles.

With the right insurance policies – so that you can enjoy your ride with peace of mind.

Suddenly a pedestrian crosses in front of you. You graze a parked car while dodging a cyclist. Without personal liability insurance, accidents like these can be very expensive as you will be liable with your private assets.

Our personal liability insurance also functions as a third-party liability policy for your e-scooter. It covers all personal injury, property damage and financial loss that you cause to others on your two-wheeler (up to a maximum speed of 20 km/h).

GOOD TO KNOW

E-bikes with a power of up to 500 watts are also covered by your personal liability insurance. For e-bikes over 500 watts, you need a licence plate from the responsible authority as well as compulsory third-party liability insurance. The latter takes the form of a vignette that must be renewed annually (available from the vehicle licensing authority in your canton of residence).

After a ride, you carefully lock your e-scooter at the station – but when you return, all you find is a broken lock. Annoying, but not a big loss, because our household contents insurance with “simple theft outside the home” gives you the perfect theft cover.

The sum insured can be adjusted individually to ensure that your two-wheeler is optimally insured – regardless of whether it’s the premium or the budget version.

After a crash, your e-scooter or e-bike will not move an inch. Fortunately, damage to your own electric scooter can easily be covered via our single-item and valuables insurance.

Your adviser will be happy to explain to you in a no-obligation consultation which insurance is right for you.

Your leisurely e-scooter or e-bike trip ends abruptly with a breakdown. Your e-scooter goes on strike on the way to the office. Our bicycle assistance service provides rapid help in the event of breakdowns and accidents with your two-wheeler.

Bicycle assistance can be taken out together with our household insurance or separately and includes services such as organisation of repairs at your location or transport to a repair shop of your choice in Switzerland, as well as cover for the costs of your home or onward journey.

You crossed the junction when the light was on green – and somebody else did, too. At least that’s what the counterparty to the accident claims. Legal disputes like these are laborious and time-consuming.

Fortunately they are covered by our traffic legal protection insurance. This helps you with legal matters that might become a problem in connection with your two-wheeler.

And for even more legal cover, there is our personal legal protection. This will also cover you in the event of legal difficulties at work or in connection with your rental apartment, for example.

All it takes is one clumsy manoeuvre – you fall off your electric scooter and in the blink of an eye, your shoulder is broken. It can happen to anyone.

With our private accident insurance, you can supplement the statutory benefits according to your needs – with additional benefits such as medical expenses on a private ward. That way, you can heal your fracture in peace.

SAFETY FIRST

Helmets are not compulsory for slow e-bikes, e-scooters and the like. We nevertheless recommend that you always wear a helmet when riding any two-wheeled vehicle. Daytime running lights have been mandatory since 1 April 2022 – not only for e-bikes but also for e-scooters and all other vehicles on public roads from 10 km/h.

Are you borrowing or hiring an e-scooter or an e-bike? No problem. With our insurance policies, you can simply set off.

You will be prepared for any eventuality, because we do not differentiate between whether you are using your own or a rented or a shared vehicle. The main thing is that you enjoy the ride.

In Switzerland, insurance is not compulsory for e-scooters with a motor power of up to 500 watts. Nevertheless, it makes a lot of sense to insure yourself and your two-wheeler sufficiently. And personal liability insurance is a must for everyone.
